Schools for children

December 01, 2009 at 06:30 AM

Forget about whether you should or should not propose.  Forget about whether or not to buy that huse you cant really afford.  Forget about whether you take your tax-free 25% from your pension early or leave it to "grow".  No, the most difficult decision in life is which school to put your children forward for.

Many of the free ones are challenged.  The free ones which aren't are fantastic, except you can't help feeling guilty that you aren't ruining your financial future, like your parents did, and using a private school.  And then if you do, you get in the rut from which it is difficult to escape.  Are they worth the money?   £7,500 per term to be a day-girl at Wycombe Abbey, £10,000 a term to be a boarder at Cheltenham Ladies.  I keep wondering why I have a permanent debt on my personal balance sheet, and why I am chained to the City, and then I remember.  Girls, you had better make this investment worthwhile...
